| -I've diverted my blogness over here now. It's been almost 4 years on Xanga. and I guess I'm just tired of it. needed something new for a change. -Let the hotlinks begin. | | |
| -It's only appropriate.
-You guys missed some awesome Uno Attack and sledding last night. and also the 'best living room ever' can be viewed here. Photos courtesy of Jenn. I advise you check out the other photos, including me pumping gas. ha. -hallulujah holla back lil' homie. (you need to watch this show.)
| -I started an entry, but Xanga wouldn't let put hyperlinks. So I got pissed and quit. The break was pretty good. The trip to CO wasn't as good as expected, but ah well. I would really like to complain about all the issues we had (Mostly dealing with reeeeeally crappy weather.) but I'm not. Let's just put it this way, one of the highlights was getting back safely. Dang you weather. If you would like you can view a few pictures of the trip or me pumping gas at Jenn's Flickr.
And. here's a few links for you. -Phone Handset -The Alchemists-I want to see this. -The Persuaders-I'm in the process of watching this right now, and its quite interesting. -Idiocracy-Mike Judge's new film. coming out next week. -Ipod History
| -Hope it's not too late for you guys, but Shannon and I are having some peeps over New Year's Eve. I belive Jenn and I will be making some eggs, pancakes, french toast and such. and of course, our usual games. so word up. -I'm in CO right now with Jenn and family, hopefully be back at the end of the week. oh. Christmas was great. and beats are coming soon. | | |
| -I've been contemplating how I would make my return back to Blogworld. and I was planning on a Dec. 7 (one month) return, but I failed to make the cut. The past month and a half has flown by, and I'm not even sure where to begin with all the happenings, or if there is actually something to write about. Of course there is, who am I kidding. -Like anyone else, I've had my ups and downs lately. I've feeling quite good today, despite my lack of sleep last night. Today is the week countdown for christmas, when is a break for me. Steve is giving me a little over a week for christmas, so thats real nice. -I was having a hard time a couple months ago. or a month ago. something like that. Just seemed like everyone around me was having problems, and I couldn't do anything about it, whether it was school or job or relationships. I was just there to listen to it and just didn't seem like I could do anything. On top of that, I feel like I was (and occasionally still am) having problems being content/comfortable with where I am at in life right, mostly financially. At one side, I feel like I just pull off 'I'm poor and can't afford anything' bit, which if you look at my bank account, one would say I'm far from it. BUT, yes a big but in caps, I'm not doing so hot living off my paychecks. It might seem like I would, considering I dont have mouths to feed, except my own (which I eat very little.), and I even share an apartment, but when push comes to shove. I live very tightly-as far as budget goes. Very few people I know how to deal with the hardships of actually paying for your own car, other normal bills, and on top of that, student loans, which I will be having to pay off for the next ten years, thats always something that hangs over the head. I'm not really here to complain, just explaining my thought process. My financial situation has slightly changed this past week, after talking with Steve for a bit. I'm still debating my next move in the world of Careers and my Design. I did apply to see and apply for this job in Boston, but I dont think its going to happen. But it was one of those jobs I HAD to apply for, and if I didn't, I would be kicking myself in the head. -On a sidenote, I'm looking for a new provider for my celluar phone needs. If anyone is happy with their service, and feels I will feel the same way, let me know, and no shannon, I'm not going to get the blackjack. I have been looking into those no contract type providers (i.e. virgin mobile), theres something about not being under contract, that makes me feel better about jumping into a service. I dislike that, being bound for two years feeling. -It's the end of the year, and for probably the 4th year or so in a row, I'm providing my top list. and this year, it has been diverged into two lists: top instrument albums and top other albums. mostly due to my overload of instrumental music I've been listening to this year, I only feel it necessary to provide a list for it. But looking at my charts and my itunes of most of the music I listen to, its mostly not music from this year. This year was just full of just "ok" CDs (of which some are on my list.) Here we go: Top Instrumental: 10. Dosh-The Lost Take: Jenn got me listening to them (and Talkdemonic) and its not superfantastic, It's decent music. 9. This is Your Captain Speaking-Storyboard: Not sure where this falls under, not quite as good as This is Process of a Still Life, but still worth a listen. 8. Tycho-Past is Prologue/Yndi Halda-Enjoy Eternal Bliss: I tagged this together, but both groups released albums that weren't quite new albums. Tycho re released their, well, his first album with a few new songs and remixes and such. Yndi Halda made an official release of their album, which I haven't heard one of the songs. The Yndi Halda is like a real good Godspeed. ha. 7. Red Sparowes-Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun: I haven't really given this album a thorough listen, but so far, I like it. Slightly different from the last (no slide?). but solid 6. Blue Sky Black Death- A Heap of Broken Images: This is actually one of two discs. One is instrumental and the other has some hip hop on it. the hip hop disc is alright, but I actually listen to the instrumental side. 5. Talkdemonic-Beat Romantic: "folktronic hop" so says allmusic.com. ha. just a nice blend of instruments and beats. 4. The Fountain Soundtrack: wrote out by Clint Mansell, his quartet, and Mogwai helped out with some of it. After watching the movie (see below), I kind of appreciate more what the soundtrack did for the movie. Just helped create a great set up. The music fit right, and listening to it by itself is enjoyable as well. 3. Black Moth Super Rainbow+Octopus Project-The House of Apples and Eyeballs I don't think it's very often, you hear a collaboration of artists and it feels like one. This is one of those. and its a great blend of the two. Spiracle is the jam. 2. This Will Destroy You-Young Mountain ep: For all you kids into your Explosions, you need this album. great instrumental music. almost feels like a full length (its about 36 mins.), just has that completeness to it. Definately waiting for a full length. 1. Russian Circles-Enter: Uh. Have I ever mentioned how awesome this album is? I think it was after seeing them and realizing they're just a three piece and play every piece of their songs live, just made it official for me. The guitarist is the man with his loops and dead on. the music just kind of creates a nice epic of sorts. go check it out if you haven't. and if you dont like, go back and listen to your homosexual Daughters.
Top Other: 10. UnderOath-Define the Great Line: Eh. I guess this album was alright. there was a few stand out songs, which kind of made me feel like they could done a lot more with the rest of the album. 9. Park-Building a Better ____: I've been a fan of Park since, I dont know. Senior in high school or freshman in college or something, so liking this was a little like, I had to or something. Wasn't anything Great or new, just Park. 8. Milosh-Meme: I enjoyed a few songs off his last album. Ann hooked me up with the new one, and I found it to be better, can't listen to it toooo much though. 7. Eager Seas-Eager Seas (aka Watashi, WA): One of my anticipated albums from last year, nothing like some poppy punk with piano. I'm a sucker for the piano, and this album brought the catchiness and whatnot. 6. The Sleeping-Questions and Answers: I am a bit surprised this band hasn't blown up on the face of mtv yet. althought I think I did see a commercial for it on tv one time. The singer sounds like the guy from Wunder years (whats that? something from high school days?!), I thought the album was pretty solid, more so than their last. and The Climb is definately one of my fav. songs of the year. 5. Gregor Samsa-55.12: Just nice chill music. 4. Thom Yorke-The Eraser: This was just about everything to be expected from Thom. 3. Owen-At Home With: This is about everything to be expected from Owen as well. But it was still solid. I still don't know why people don't listen to the Owen. I still need to see this guy live. geeez. Thanks bear for getting me into it. shooot. 2. Mogwai-Mr. Beast: I'm a bit new to the Mogwai thing. Mike hooked me up with this album, I'm pretty sure, months before it came out. it hit the spot for me. Something I've listened to for prob. 6 months straight. thats how you know you have a good album in your hands. 1. Album Leaf-Into the Blue Again: Yet again, another great album from the album leaf. I almost put this in the instrumental category, which it prob. should but a few songs have singing with it, which is relatively new. I felt this album was well done, well thought out. Solid. Word.
I'm sure I'm missing a couple in there, which I won't realize until a couple months later, but I think it's about where it should be.
Most Disappointing: The Sounds of Animals Fighting-Lover, The Lord has Left Us: I actually was waiting for this one, but it failed short of what I had expected. It was borderline genius/retarded. I didn't get it. Anticipating for 2007: Explosions in the Sky, Justin King, Tycho, and I'm sure more to come.
-Feel free to leave your tops in the comments, I'd like to see what everyone else has been listening to. Note: albums that have been released this year.
-As far as my own music endeavors, I've had the oppurtunity to play with Mike's group, which him and Steve-O have been heading up. and it was quite a hit, but due to our distance, haven't been able to practice. just once. so I'm not even sure what will become of it. it would be nice to actually Do something for a change. In other news, I've been working on some new beats, and you haven't heard them, you're missing out. It's going to be off the hook, when I get my midi keyboard. They're mostly just samples right now, and haven't really completed a full song. Getting there.
-In movie news, Jenn and I have completed the 'Vengeance Trilogy': three flims by Chan-wook Park (Korean Films), all dealing with Vegeance, revenge, and whatnot. Interesting, although, they seemed to progressively be not as good as the last. Also saw the Fountain, which.....was confusing. and I left the theater bamboozled, then the next day, it all clicked for me, Just have to sit there and think about what you say, and I think it works really well. Also saw Apocalyto yesterday. That was wild and overly violent. Decent, but a bit disappointing. and seriously, who brings their baby to these movies?! oh, did anyone happen to see Science of Sleep? I need to see that.
-I also need to update my portfolio which needs a facelift....really bad. -I was also going to bring back the hot links, but kind of not finding them today. but they will come. who knows how many things/videos/sites i've seen in the past month. shooot. Check back periodically today, I'll try to have a couple more.
-Tickle Me Emo: Horrible. I find it more hilarious of the simliarites of the emo elmo and davey havoc (of AFI) -Fragpedal: Seems a bit ridiculous at first, but I'd prob. use it, at work or something. ha. -Helvetica: a few clips are online now. I'm highly anticipating watching this film. -25 worst album covers: of 2006. link from last week. -Breakdancer falls: this is up for shannon mostly. a bit funny. -Silent Star Wars -You Don't Know: Mike pointed this out the other day, but out of no where, theres a C-17. quite out of place if you ask me. and if you're wondering why I point that out. my dad has been working on that plane since its beginning/test flight, like when I was in 3rd grade. -Accept Christ: and get a free ps2. That gave me a good laugh.
